So your wedding day has arrived, that oh so special day that you’ve been planning and dreaming about for a long time. Everything is ready to go, except you because you have to do your makeup so you look bea-u-ti-ful. WAIT just a second! Check the ingredients on that sun screen and/or foundation you are about to put on. If they have zinc or titanium dioxide as an ingredient, don’t use them. Now, if you’re having your makeup done by a professional, they will already know this.
The problem is, these ingredients will cause your face to look like a ghost when photographed with an off camera flash like I use when doing your formals, family portraits, and bride/groom portraits. I don’t know the science behind this, but those chemicals have a white foundation to them, which isn’t always visible to the naked eye, but the camera sees everything.
I don’t have any photographs of brides or family portraits where someone had this situation because I always educate my clients in advance, so this is a photo of me that I doctored up a little in photoshop, but it gives you the idea. The first one is the proper color, the second, well it’s a little too white.
