It was one of those days where it had rained, was supposed to rain some more, or maybe not. These are the times when I start sweating because I don’t know if we should go ahead with the session with everyone getting their hair and makeup ready (well not the guys:}, or should we cancel and reschedule. We decided to go ahead with the session and hope the rain held off, which it did. Yay!
The daughter, Emily, arrived with a blouse that had large colored polka dots and her hair in a pony tail. I brought a necklace along to give to her and I think that helped convince her to put a black sweater over the blouse and take her hair down. She was a little sullen about the whole thing, but she ended up coming around pretty soon and had a good time. I was so happy she enjoyed the portrait session. The boy, Elijah, loved being photographed, which is a little odd since it’s usually the other way around.
Chantel and Bernie both work for the Ute tribe in Ignacio CO at the Sky Ute Casino. It’s a huge beautiful building. Her kids are with her during the summer and then spend the winter with their dad so we had to get this session done before they went back to Denver.
I was photographing a wedding last weekend where the bride was getting ready at the Sky Ute Resort (which is in the same building as the casino). I had Chantel’s portraits so I asked if she could meet me there since she lives nearby. When we met there, I found out that she was the officiant at the wedding I was photographing that day (she’s related to one of the parents – I forget which one). Small world!
Thanks for looking!
